Ohio State University Extension  Volunteer Position Description

 Volunteer Title:            

Mercer County 4-H Club Volunteer

Co-Advisor

 Work Description:       

To work cooperatively with the other advisors in your local club in providing program development and adult leadership to members.

Time Commitment:      

Each club is required to have a minimum of 6 meetings per year. Each meeting to last at least 1 hour in length. Realistically, an co-advisor will spend at least 20-25 hours per year.

Qualifications:              

A sincere interest in the development of all 4-H Youth.

Ability and willingness to communicat4e effectively.

Open to new ideas.

Interested in the betterment of the entire 4-H program.

Responsibilities:          

To uphold the highest degree in good judgment, serving as a role model to young people.

Work with co-advisors and youth leadership in developing and conducting an educationally sound club program.

To work cooperatively with other club advisors for the betterment of the Mercer County 4-H program.

Attend required volunteer training to stay current in county programming directions and needs.

To respond in a timely manner to information requests made by the Extension Office staff or associated committees.

To adhere to stated deadlines for all 4-H activities and events.

To promote 4-H in your local community.

Understand and promote the purpose and programs of Ohio and Mercer County 4-H and The Ohio State University.

Insure that current 4-H programming is conducted on a non-discriminatory basis without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, sex, age, handicap or Vietnam-era veteran status.
